I already love Germany, because I've grown up with it. Since my mom and grandmother are full German and didn't even move here until the 1980s, Germany has been a part of my life just as long as America has. Hell, I've been speaking German just and long as I've been speaking English! The only reason I'm still not fluent is because my mom and grandmother never really tutored me in it. But when I'm in Germany, I know I'll speak it well enough that Germans will think I've lived there all along, so I won't stick out as a tourist, which is good.
But the thing I think the thing I'm looking forward to the most is watching the World Cup with my relatives in Germany. It's a totally different think to watch the World Cup in Europe than it is in America. In America, the general reaction to the World Cup is to flop on the couch, check it out (usually if USA is playing), get excited when your team scores (yay! yay!), but in Europe, it's a HUGE. FREAKIN. DEAL. People skip work for the World Cup!! Watching the Deutsche Fußballnationalmannschaft with my family is going to be awesome.
So, wish me luck, safety, and a wonderful time! I'm am incredibly stoked about this.
Bon voyage!!
